
School officials, teachers and parents felt that the officer went too far by dragging the child to school in handcuffs, they were equally surprised to learn who called the police in the first place.The boy's mother and grandmother called police after the 11-year-old refused to go to school. "Be mean, yell at him, scare him and take him to school in handcuffs to teach to him a lesson,” the mother told the officer according to the police report. The responding police officer found the boy hiding on a playground slide. He was belligerent and refused to come down, so the officer went up the slide, restrained the boy, placed him in the patrol car and drove him to school, the police report states. “We're supposed to be good parents, encouraging our kids, be there for them, not to humiliate them in front of their peers," said a parent who witnessed the incident.Artesia police are doing an internal investigation as to why the officer arrested they minor child who has not committed any crime. School officials said they're doing their own investigation as well.x
